Where is XO Barbers?
You can find XO Barbers at 176 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8ER, in Southwark, just a few minutes from Southwark tube station. We're also a 10-minute walk from Waterloo and Elephant and Castle stations.
How much does a haircut at XO Barbers cost?
A haircut with junior barber Rami costs £15, £20 or £25. A haircut with barber Benji costs £35.
What's the difference between the Barber School and the Barber Shop?
Our Barber School is the XO Barbers training programme, where our trainees are learning to become barbers. The course is 11-weeks long and throughout the course we welcome models for £5 training haircuts. Our Barber Shop is open in the evenings, Tuesdays - Fridays, 4pm to 7pm, with our trained graduates offering haircuts on a "pay what you like" basis.
Does XO Barbers offer beard trims?
Yes. Beard trims are £10 with Junior Barber, Rami or our Barber, Benji. We also offer a combined haircut and beard trim service.
Can I get a £5 haircut at XO Barbers?
£5 trainee haircuts are available during the daytime training sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm, Tuesday - Friday, while the XO Barbers training programme is running. They're not available during the evening when our Barber Shop is open.
Can I walk in?
Evening walk-ins are welcome, although booking is recommended. You must book an appointment for our daytime slots at the Barber School, which are mornings at 10:30am and afternoon at 1:30pm.
Is XO Barbers a charity?
XO Barbers is a charity-owned sustainable venture set up by Onwards & Upwards. We're a charity working to break the cycle of reoffending through training and employment. Our first venture is XO Bikes, which trains prison leavers as bike mechanics, and XO Barbers is our second, training people in barbering. Is XO Barbers also a bike shop?
If you've visited XO Barbers before or checked us out on Google Maps, you'll know we're not your traditional barber shop. You'll find us inside the old Sons of Temperance Friendly Society building, a grade II listed space, full of stories where a community once gathered to discuss major civil rights and political movements of the 19th century.
Today, it's home to both XO Barbers and XO Bikes, our first venture. The two work side by side in one shared, creative space. To reach the barber shop, you'll walk through the XO Bikes servicing workshop first – so if you've got a bike that needs some love, why not get it serviced too while you're at it?
